Hong Kong: Hong Kong Budget Hostel

A big chunk of your vacation budget would go to your accommodation in Hong Kong, so If you want more money for shopping and sleeping is the last thing on your mind, then go for budget accommodation. Here’s where we stayed on our recent Hong Kong trip-on all our Hong Kong trips actually.

Me and Ate Leng - one of my travel buddies.

A short walk from Mongkok MTR station, Right across Ladies Market with a number of shops, affordable bistros and convenience stores lining the nearby streets is the Hong Kong Budget Hostel.

For only 500.00HKD -125.00HKD/pax/night (Approximately 689.00PHP) you get a private room for 4 with your own comfort room. With Hot and Cold shower! :)

Thynee in blue jacket-my other travel buddy. :)

PROs:
Location-you have easy access to everything!Shops, convenience stores, bistros, MTR, and more shops!
Safety-though it may not seem so at first-I’ve stayed here a number of times and I can always roam to my heart's content and rest assured that my stuff are safe.
Cleanliness- they have 2 elderly folks as housekeepers and they do their job well. Trash is emptied and comfort rooms are cleaned daily. Bath towels and bed sheets though are not changed unless requested.

CONs:
Rooms are smaller than our regular hotel deluxe rooms and have no windows.
Elevator Lines- The Inn is housed inside a residential/commercial building (Sincere Podium) that's being serviced by 4 elevators, 2 on each side of the building. At night though, only 2 elevators are working, and the resulting queue from the number of guests checked in at the inns inside the building plus the building residents can really eat up your time.

Notes: Adaptors are available upon request.

Additional Tips: Buy your basic necessities (toiletries, snacks, etc…) on Bonjour Cosmetics along Ladies Market instead of the convenience stores scattered in the area (7/11,Circle K)-you would save a lot.

Your best bet is exchanging your money ahead of time before getting out of the country so you can get the best rate. If you're already in Hongkong, Hong Kong Exchange's (one of the G/F shops in the building) rates are fair and competitive.
