Bataan: Corregidor Island

I wrote this last year, saved it as draft, thought I would have the time to come back and post it, but didn't...until now. I know it's pretty late but I decided to post it anyway since I could still see the deal pop up at Deal Grocer every now and then at the same rate...

...And because Corregidor Island is worth a visit.:D

Below are the details of my package from DealGrocer.com
If you have yet to visit Corregidor Island, now is the perfect time to discover all its exciting secrets with this Overnight Package for 2 at Corregidor Inn, now only P4,500 (P8,400 Originally):
  • Overnight Stay for 2 persons in a standard room
  • Round-trip ferry transfers
  • Guided island tour
  • Choice of one activity: Zipline, ATV or Kayaking for 2
  • Night Lateral Tour (Malinta Tunnel) for 2 persons
  • Buffet Lunch for 2 on the 1st day & Breakfast for 2 on the 2nd day
  • All taxes and surcharges like Terminal/Entrance/Shrine Fees
You can actually choose 2 activities Zipline+ATV or Zipline+Kayaking.

The only issue I had was when I was confirming the reservation with Sun Cruises. Confirmation was subject to availability and given that my voucher was valid for check in from Mondays to Thursdays only, I thought it would be easy. It took me 3 calls, 4 emails, and 1 unfriendly sun cruises reservation agent to confirm my booking.

Once I had it confirmed though, everything went smoothly. From Sun Cruises Port in CCP Complex through my tours: Day Tour + Added Lights and Sound show at Malinta Tunnel- Add Php200.00 + Night Tunnel Lateral Tour (with Sunset and Sunrise Viewing), everyone - the tour guides and the hotel staff were extra nice and friendly.
The Star Cruises Ferry
Tram ride anyone? :)
Big guns...
...and bigger guns...:D
Saw a similar monument at the War Memorial in Seoul...American and Korean soldier of course :)
The Light and Sound Show at the Malinta Tunnel
After the group tour, you'll be able to check in and rest a bit before your Lateral Night Tour + Sunset Viewing.

Rooms at the Hotel were old but clean. Their walls are not thick enough, you can hear doors creaking, opening, and closing, not to mention the footsteps on the corridor - nope, not ghosts, just the guests from the other rooms.
I  love their Chiropractic beds
Enough lounging...hehe

Touring the Island at dawn was an entirely different experience. It was a plus that there were only 4 of us in the tour. Unlike the earlier group tour, this tour felt unhurried and relaxing.
Dinner would be after your night tour, and was not part of the package. The hotel would be your only choice since there's nothing else on the island, except for a small store near the hotel which sells some basic necessities at a reasonable price. Food was too simple and a bit pricey.

***
It's not mentioned on the package, but there will be another tour in the morning to watch the sunrise and discover more tunnels. It would be difficult to drag yourself out of bed but you better do because it's worth it.

Breakfast would be served after the tour. You could then lounge around or proceed with your activities.
There you go, so if you happen to catch that package online...go for it...and no, this is not a Deal Grocer Ad. :p
